Tuesday Tunes: History of the Devil by the Seeing Ear Theater

Spread the love

Hello Friends:

This week we bring you the “History of the Devil” audio play produced by the Seeing  Ear Theater in 1999. This play was originally published in Incarnations: Three Plays in 1995 (click for Amazon link). In it,  Lucifer himself is brought to trial and, clue by clue, we piece together the mystery of Evil Incarnate.  In the following  link you can listen to the Seeing  Ear Theater production archive, scroll down to find the play (it’s the second down, after Kindred) and download the mp3 files. Easy as pie.

A deprived and lovelorn Satan is sick and tired of living in Hell. He bemoans the loss of his angel-wings, his freedom of flight, his elegance and grace. And he misses God. So he calls a trial to seek re-admittance into Heaven. As the trial moves through space and time we revisit scenes of humanity’s failures — or are they the work of the Devil, his own wicked crimes? If Satan wins his day in court, he’ll be reunited with his Father in Heaven. And if he loses? He’ll spend eternity here with us — on Earth.Based on a play from 1980.
