In anticipation for The Scarlet Gospels!!!
As I write this we’re two weeks away from the worldwide release of The Scarlet Gospels! Like many of you, I’ve been waiting for this book for over two decades and I’m sure it will not disappoint. Most of the early reviews have been very positive and that’s always a good sign. Of course there have been some negative ones as well, but that’s to be expected considering the hype has been huge for this. You’re not going to be able to please everyone and I’m sure Clive Barker knows that. I’m going in with an open mind and hopefully coming out on the other end a happy reader. And plus both Ryan and Jose both have given it their high approval so that makes me very happy.
I do wish the book would’ve been longer though. Barker’s epic books are some of my favorites and at one time I was told that The Scarlet Gospels was going to be well over a 1000 pages. I seem to enjoy his longer books that go deep into the minds of the character’s and the outlandish world’s he creates. I’m not saying that The Scarlet Gospels will lack depth because its a short book. I don’t mean that at all. I’m just saying that I enjoy his longer books like Imajica or The Great and Secret Show. But at the end of the day I really don’t care because this is Clive’s vision and the page length will probably be justified in the end.
But what excites me the most is finally being able to read a book that features both my favorite Cenobite, and my favorite paranormal detective Harry D’Amour. I have so many visions in my head right now of how there first confrontation will play out. What will Harry think of Pinhead when he first encounters him? Will Pinhead try to influence Harry in someway to join him? And does Harry play apart in Pinhead’s demise? Speaking of Pinhead’s demise, I’m very curious to see how that’s going to be pulled off? Will it live up to the hype? I think it will, but the suspense of waiting is killing me.
When the book is finally in my hands I think I’ll be in a state of shock. This is going to be a special moment for me so I’m going to savior every second of it. To finally be able to read The Scarlet Gospels has the geek inside me going wild. Before I even open the book, I’ll probably just hold and stare at it for about ten minutes to let the relief of finally having it set in.
Don’t forget you can order a copy from RealCliveBarker’s store. There’s also other cool promotional material such as shirts (only on sale through May), medallions, and other great merchandise in celebration for this release.
The Gospels are finally here!!! I hope everyone enjoys the ride Clive has given us.
