Big Hellraiser Film Franchise News!
There is a god! The Clive Barker Podcast has secretly been informed that Dimension Films has lost the film rights to the Hellraiser franchise! Offers from other studios have been made to buy the film rights including Clive Barker. He’s apparently very desperate to get the Hell Priest away from any other studio and wants the franchise back in house. I totally agree and lets hope it happens.
Rumors are also going around that Tony Randel and Peter Atkins might come back for an adaptation of The Scarlet Gospels. But again these are only rumors, but a fanboy can dream can’t he?
We’ll keep you posted as more news comes in!
via The April Phantom for the news!
Very funny guys, but there is no god. Welcome to Dimension Films, the only place run by cenobites.
Do I look like someone who cares about God?
That is great news!!! What does that mean for the film in process?
You shouldn’t play with our feelings like that, Rob. Trick us again next time and I promise your suffering will be legendary even in hell.
Hmm. Forgot about april fools, the petition i made was actually dead serious. interesting timing. I really would like to see Clive get total creative control. He is such a great director, its a shame he hasnt done more films, same as Stephan King and Frank Miller, these guys are great directors in addition to masterful writers. One question i would like to pose, having not read the Gospels. Is are they stand alone enough to make with out needing the rights from any third party? Like for example (maybe bad example) but promethius, if there were a contractural despute and Scott said hell with it, im doing the same aesthetic and mood of what i created but renaming the characters. That would be a worthy crucade.
This April Fools story was written before the story about your petition, and isn’t related to that.
The Scarlet Gospels’ Hell Priest is too similar to Pinhead from the movies for them to let that stand, in my opinion, but who knows.
I really need to read Scarlett Gospels and Shinning sequel, for some reason every time i am in a book store it slips my mind.
