Happy Birthday to Tony Todd!

Hello Friends:
It’s Tony Todd’s birthday today! I remember my first time seeing him on the silver screen was in Platoon as Sgt. Warren, Candyman and of course The Crow back when it came out in the theater— he killed in a black suit, goatee and glasses as Grange, Top Dollar’s bodyguard.

It was his portrayal of Candyman alongside Virginia Madsen that spawned and carried the franchise, and recently Arrow Video and Shout Factory have both released their own Blu-Ray versions of Candyman, a vinyl soundtrack has been re-released and there’s been the announcement for the “spiritual sequel” of Candyman by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Production company, set to shoot this next spring, to be directed by Nia DaCosta.
